To a great extent, conservation of tigers will depend on the coming young generation. Therefore motivating youth is necessary to ensure the well being of tigers in the future. Considering this aspect, Sanctuary Asia magazine started “Kids For Tiger” Nature Education and Awareness programme throughout India. Under this programme children were made aware about the importance of conservation of tigers and nature. In Corbett country, The Corbett Foundation in collaboration with Sanctuary Asia organized the event and children from villages located in and around Corbett Tiger Reserve participated. The Corbett Foundation team, comprising of Mr. Sharad Kumar (Senior Programme Officer) and Mr. Harish Bhandari (Programme Officer), has been visiting various schools located around the Corbett Tiger Reserve with Art sheets and Tiger Scrolls for Art for Conservation Campaign under the 2008 Kids for Tigers programme. The theme of the programme is “Save India’s Big Five’’ (Elephant, Rhinoceros, Tiger, Lion and Leopard). 29 schools participated and children expressed their support for the conservation of nature by signing the scroll. The best three entries in the Art for Conservation programme were awarded and preserved for future use. These preserved entries will be gifted to high profile personalities.
