In spite of all the conservation efforts, the situation of tiger in India is worsening day by day. It orders to ensure the survival of tiger we need the support of mass media. Until and unless this movement of tiger conservation becomes the movement of the masses, it is impossible to conserve tiger in human dominated landscapes. It is imperative also to have political support from the base to top level. To get this across the board political support, “SAVE THE TIGER” signature campaign was started by NDTV. In Corbett area this programme was organized by The Corbett Foundation and Nature Guide Welfare Society at Aamdanda gate of Corbett Tiger Reserve on 14th March 2008. It was a joint effort by The Corbett Foundation, NDTV and Nature Guide Welfare Society of Uttarakhand. On this occasion Mr Dilip D Khatau, Chairman The Corbett Foundation, Mrs Rina D Khatau, Co-Chairperson, Mr. Rajeev Bhartari, Director Corbett Tiger Reserve, Dr. Harendra Singh Bargali, Dy. Director, The Corbett Foundation, TCF staff and members of the Nature Guide Welfare Society were present. The campaign was appreciated by tourists visiting Bijrani tourism zone. 250 signatures were collected on the first day. A total of 841 signatures were collected from visitors over three days. |
